THE LIGHT OF VICTORY CHURCH STORY
Pastor Phillip C. Washington and Lady Cheryl Washington has been married for 41 years. They have 4 adult children and 9 beautiful grandchildren. They work together as one in their home life as well as in the ministry. Pastor Washington has Pastored the Light of Victory Church for 10 years with Lady Cheryl right by his side. They have a unique and dynamic partnership that is exemplified in their daily walk with Christ.

At the Light of Victory, we strive to show the church and community that there is “Victory in Jesus”
Our Mission Is to Enrich, Transform, and restore live to Christ in the community and in the world.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 31:3. The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore, with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
The Light of Victory focuses on introducing and winning souls for Christ by simply showing love. We Enrich – Teaching the word of God to the congregation in Sunday School, Sunday Morning Worship, and Wednesday night Faith Enrichment Class, We Transform the church and the community to accept Christ as their personal savior. We Restore the hurting and downhearted by showing love and compassion to all.
Our Church - The Fifth Ward Community
The Light of Victory Church is located in the heart of what is called Fifth Ward. We felt this to be the perfect areas for this predominately black community. There are many people of all walks of life in the community. There are many apartments in the area where we often go and witness. There is homelessness, solicitation, drug addicts, hungriness but physical and spiritual, and we were placed here to help meet the needs of all.

Our Goals Month by Month
August – September
Back to school backpack giveaway for Children in the Church and Community. Our backpack giveaway will be held on the grounds of the church with games, food and fun for the entire family. Each child will leave with a backpack full of school supplies and prayer for a safe and successful school year.
October – November
The light of Victory will host Thanksgiving dinner on the ground on the church and a giveaway basket for families to enjoy at home with their families,
December
The light of Victory will host Christmas dinner on the ground on the church and a giveaway basket for families to enjoy at home with their families, There will also be toys and gifts for the Children.

The light of victory Baptist Church is a church that believes in the great commission, which Jesus gives in Matthew 28: 19 and 20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. The light of victory Church Baptist Church mission is to go out and make disciples. Our primary focus on discipleship will be families. We believe that if we create a healthy family then we will have a healthy disciple. God gave us our families so we can see how he loves us. God began with a covenant between man and woman. At the light of victory Baptist Church we are determined to create a bond between the husband and the wife. With this bond husband and wife will realize they have a covenant with God and with this covenant the husband and the wife can enjoy the fruitful life that God intended for them. When we create a bond between a husband and wife then the other family members will benefit. The children will be able to see how God is the head of their family.
With a focus on families we can include all types of families. God can be seen in blended families if the husband and wife are dedicated to him. God can be seen in divorced families if the man and the woman is dedicated to God, God can be seen in single families if the man or woman is dedicated to God, God can be seen in foster families if the man and the woman is dedicated to God. God can be seen in stepfamilies if the man and a woman is dedicated to God. The light of victory Baptist Church is focused on building families for God.
When we focus on building families for God we must start at the home, after we reach the home we will go into the community, after we receive community then will go to the city, after he reached city will go to the states, as we reach the state it will go to the entire nation, after he reached the nation they will go to the entire world. When we do this Jesus said he’ll be with us always.
